2008 Football Tryout Information

Thank you for your interest in the football program at Daniels Middle School.  To be eligible to participate, you must meet all requirements listed below:

     1. Pass both Math and Language Arts.  Pass either Science or Social Studies.  Pass half of your electives.

     2. Submit a completed  “Middle School Athletic Participation” form.  This form includes proof of insurance coverage and a physical examination checklist to be completed by a licensed physician.  Make your appointment for your physical soon. Your doctor may be unable to see you for several weeks.  This will not be a valid excuse in August.

Bring both forms (completed) to the introductory meeting that will be held on August 25, 2008--the first day of school. This meeting will be followed by a short workout. Tryouts will continue on Tuesday & Wednesday of that week.   Have a ride here at 4:00 p.m. each day.   No player will be permitted to participate in tryouts without first submitting these forms.

It is very important that you arrive on the first day (Monday, Aug 25th) ready to try out.  Our first game is on September 17th, leaving approximately fifteen days to practice.  For this reason, we can not delay try outs.  We will choose the team earlier than usual, and if you have not tried out due to problems with your paperwork, you may be out of luck.

Below is a a link for the necessary forms and a suggested summer conditioning schedule.  Have a safe and productive summer.  We’re looking forward to working with you next fall.

Three times a week Run to increase your speed and stamina.  Run a mile as fast as you can. Keep accurate records of your times and never walk during this activity.

Five times a week Run to increase your quickness and speed.  On ten successive occasions, sprint approximately 40 yards.  Jog back to the starting line after each sprint .
