*Tryouts

August 26,27,28 (2:30-4:00)

Tryouts will begin on Tuesday, August 26th.  You will need to bring a completed physical form at this time.  If you do not have a physical, you will not be able to tryout.  Physical forms are available in the front office.  If you come to open gyms, you will need a physical, as well. 

During tryouts, you will learn a cheer and 3 chants. 

You will be judged on:

1.      Voice projection

2.    Tight motions

3.    Jumps (toe touch and a double jump)

4.    Tumbling (you aren’t required to have tumbling, but it is recommended that you have some tumbling skills and show that you are working on your tumbling)

5.    Presentation (how you present yourself the 3 days of tryouts- if you have a good attitude and work well with others)

6.    Stunting

I will choose between 16-20 cheerleaders for the squad.

My Expectations:

1.       You will be at ALL practices, unless I have prior notice of the absence.  We will have practices most Mon, Tues, Wed (football games), and Thurs from 2:30-4:00.  There will be some weeks that I have meetings and there will be no practice on certain days.  I will give a schedule of the games and practice dates when you make the squad.

2.      If you miss multiple practices, you may be removed from the squad.

3.      We will have one or two competitions that occur on Saturdays.  I will make you aware of these dates in advance.

4.      You will have a ride to pick you up at the school promptly at 4:00. 

5.      You must act appropriately in and out of school.

6.      You will always maintain a positive image at games and school.

Summer Training:

You will need to be stretching daily and working out at home.  We will be working on some conditioning this year and it will be a lot easier if you have been doing it all summer.

Open Gym Schedule

This summer I will be holding open gyms.  Open gyms are a time when the girls can come out and work with the other girls and I can help them on skills.  During most open gyms we will be doing jumps, stunting and tumbling.  Open gyms are not required in order to try out, but they do help to get to know the girls.
