Hello Daniels Magnet Middle School families,

I hope everyone had a wonderful spring break!

Report cards were distributed prior to spring break along with a letter outlining the North Carolina Final Exams (NCFEs), which students will take at the end of this school year.  More information regarding end of year testing is forthcoming.

Eighth grade parents please be aware that Driver’s Ed forms are available for pick up in Student Services. Students and parents are responsible for completing the forms and returning them to the preferred high school site.  Please read the directions on the form, and try to have the forms submitted by April 24th (the end of the priority window). Please see for more information.

If your eighth grade student will be attending a private or charter high school next year please email Ms. Rush at The email must be printed and placed in your student’s cumulative record. Please make sure your decision is final, before you send your email; this communication will be forwarded to Student Assignment, so that your student’s seat at their base high school can be vacated in order for another student to fill it. The NJHS is sponsoring a SPCA Food Drive for the month of April. Please check the Daniels website to see the flyer. Community Service hours are given for those who bring in the items listed on the flyer. The Model UN did an outstanding job of representing Daniels Magnet MS at the spring conference held in Boone at Appalachian State last week. Charles Maret and Owen Roberts received second place in the Security Council.

Please be sure to refer to the Daniels Magnet Middle Calendar on our website for the most up to date information.

Please be sure to review the dress code policy with your child as we enter these warmer months.  Middle school students tend to sprout over the winter and we want to ensure our focus this final quarter is on instruction.

Our school hours are 8:15 to 3:00. Students should arrive on campus no earlier than 7:45. Students who arrive earlier than 7:45 will be asked to remain outside as we do not have adult supervision in the building until teachers arrive at 7:45.  In the afternoon carpool, please do not park in designated spaces waiting for your child, as this is causing students to dangerously cut in front of moving carpool traffic.

Parents – If you need to check out your student during the school day for an appointment, please have your student bring a note to the main office before school starts. The office staff will give your student a yellow pass to show their teacher at the time they need to leave class. This will expedite the check-out process for you and your student.  Please remember to bring a photo ID.

Thanks and have a wonderful weekend!
